8. Data Center Technicians

Job Summary

►      Perform 24x7 shifts for data centers. Handle incidents and ensure safety requirements are met. Monitor environmentals, power, and server hardware. Handle cabling tasks for copper and fibre. Control access into the data centers, ensure work permits are issued, and material gate passes. Install equipment in racks, manage capacity planning, and document changes.

►      Physical Set-up of all devices. Responsible for racking all servers and devices throughout the Data Center, including running all cable, power and KVM, and removing all the above when a server is decommissioned.

►      Responsible for all WinTel/Linux servers break/fix throughout the Data Center when hardware failures occur by helping them troubleshoot issues and sending the appropriate hardware in coordination with the Vendor. 

►      Basic operating system installations and server configurations.

►      Proactive Monitoring and recording of facility security, HVAC, Fire Detection and Suppression Systems, Temperature, Humidity and critical power systems.

►      Ensuring that the Data Center is secure at all times.  DC technician will ensure all visitors are signed in and escorted at all times while in the Data Centers.

►      Engineers may go on rotational or permanent assignments in the Network Management Center (NMC), where they will be handling proactive fault management, performance management, reporting to the KAUST NMC Lead. They will also be expected to operate and maintain the KAUST internet backbone containing the following:

  • F5 Big-IP LTM 6900 in HA mode
  • 7609 IGW with multihomed BGP setup.

45. Outside Plant (OSP)

Job Summary

►      Demonstrated knowledge of OSP route design; OSP space design (maintenance holes, ducts, vaults); OSP cabling hardware, OSP grounding, bonding and electrical protection systems. Prepare plans, layouts and designs with supporting calculations for specifications, the development of tools, quantities, materials lists and cost estimates as required.

►      Extensive knowledge of components of an optical fiber network and copper cabling systems, including the product and specifications of proper optical fiber performance.

►      Able to interpret comprehensive test documents that will serve as valuable reference after the OSP installation.

►      Able to perform Optical Power Loss Measurement tests, optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) test, Chromatic Dispersion (CD) test and Polarization-Mode Dispersion (PMD) test on all installed inter-building Single-Mode Optical Fibers Cables

►      Able to document existing outside plant fiber and primary and secondary cabling systems in an acceptable international engineering practices and standards. Read/interact/verify/update OSP data stored in Telcordia Network Engineer software documenting KAUST OSP infrastructure.

►      Check plans, designs, materials purchased and equipment for conformity with specifications.

►      Participate in the planning of projects as required.

 

Required Education / Qualification

►      Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering (BSECE), Civil Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. Full understanding and knowledge of acceptable Outside Plant engineering standards and practices.

►      The Subject Matter Expert position will support corporate initiatives by gathering, analyzing requirements and recommending best practices, and delivering end products that meet business objectives on time and on budget.  As a key member of the Solutions Delivery team, the associate will be a working with Information Technology and the Business Customer.  Key activities are enhancements to current systems, system testing and analysis. SME's will be required to understand, SAP Best Practices. These individuals will have experience in business analysis, including; how to assess business needs, gather business requirements and assemble deliverables. The individual will be required to write test scripts and have an understanding of functional testing with the ability to analyze the results and interpret the findings to the business as well as technical developers. This individual must work well in a team environment.

 

Duties:

►      Leads the project from a functional perspective

►      Excellent verbal and written communication stills

 

Process modeling:

►      Strong experience on driving full-scale BPM projects.

►      Process work shop facilitation.

►      Documentation of user processes and requirements using the ARIS toolset.

►      Working closely with SAP SME to align processes and system.

►      Modeling of business process in ARIS using EPC and Value added chain diagrams.
